Only a Couple Weeks Left to Apply to Farm Foundations!

Posted on November 2, 2022 at 2:41 PM by Camila Matamala-Ost

November 15th is the last day to apply to Harvest Pierce County’s Farm Foundations to be considered for the 2023 cohort.

Four people stand in paths between rows of young tomato plants in a greenhouse.

What is Farm Foundations?

Farm Foundations is a free farmer training that combines classroom and hands-on field learning. It gives participants a full season farm internship experience without a full-time commitment.

Participants will gain knowledge in

  • soil science
  • plant biology
  • farm planning and management (which includes pest control and irrigation)
  • many other farm topics

Each week participants have the opportunity to apply their knowledge through on-site farm work while building relationships amongst their cohort.

Participants also get to enjoy the crops they plant. A share of the farm's harvest will be provided to each program participant throughout the course of the season.
