Wow, look at all that fruit!! The bees have been working hard this spring and we’ve noticed the fruits of their labor are already starting to grow. We need your help to make sure all that food doesn’t go to waste. Pierce County has an abundance of food, ripe for the picking! If you like free, fresh, local produce, consider joining the Pierce Conservation District’s Gleaning Program. You can help us pick and donate thousands of pounds of produce from local farms and fruit trees and take some home for yourself at each glean.
Sign up today to volunteer at a glean or apply to be a Branch Leader. Branch Leaders scout and lead gleans and have first access to fresh produce all season long. This program is not possible without our Branch Leaders, so we need you! No experience necessary. You will receive all the tools and training needed, as well as a stipend and mileage reimbursement.
For more information, click here and apply by July 1st or contact Chris Madden at (253) 244-2177 or chrism@piercecd.org.
