The District is built on a network of partnerships and volunteers who are all committed to the same mission: to build and sustain a healthy environment for all residents of Pierce County. We accomplish this in many ways, and Urban Agriculture wing of the Conservation District - Harvest Pierce County- is fortunate enough to partner with
MultiCare to make sure all families in Pierce County have access to fresh, healthy food.
As a Gold Sponsor of Harvest Pierce County, MultiCare is a vital community partner that helps us make residents of Pierce County healthier and more food secure.
Because of MultiCare's support, Harvest Pierce County was able to contract with Lincoln High School to get hundreds of vegetable starts to community gardens growing for those in need. Any garden who shares their produce with families in need, either through a program at their garden or a food bank, is eligible to receive vegetable starts. Tens of thousands of pounds of

produce are donated by community gardens every year. In 2017, 18,821 pounds of produce was shared with families in need through donation efforts at Community Gardens.
Because of MultiCare's generous donation, more vegetable starts were shared with gardens helping that number grow for this season.
MultiCare is a not-for-profit health care organization providing vital health and wellness services to individuals and families from all walks of life. They are inspired to reach out to neighborhoods, families and other organizations doing great work to make this region a healthier, better place to live and to foster growth and strengthen bonds with partners old and new.
