2020 Public Agency of the Year

The 2020 Public Agency Award goes to Pierce County Surface Water Management (SWM)!

We would like to honor Pierce County SWM for their contribution to the acquisition of the Vines property on South Prairie Creek. The Vines property provides important salmon habitat on one of the Puyallup River watershed’s most important salmon streams. When, at the last minute, it looked like the deal might not happen, there was no hesitation on the part of Surface Water Management to step up and ensure land would stay conserved.

SWM’s actions to help complete the Vines property purchase are emblematic of the long-standing partnership between the County and PCD to advance local salmon recovery efforts.
