Pierce County Fresh
Pierce County Fresh (PC Fresh) is a buy local program dedicated to promoting agriculture in Pierce County, WA. Funded by the Puyallup Watershed Initiative, PC Fresh was launched in 2016 as a way for local shoppers to discover the bounty and fun available to them from local farms, farmers markets, and “agritourism” destinations. This year PC Fresh is rebranding and re-energizing its focus and has made changes including a striking new logo and a user-friendly interactive website.

At piercecountyfresh.org customers can search for different farms or farmers markets in their area. Through the PC Fresh website and social media channels, farmers will gain access to a public eager for fresh, delicious food and unique entertainment opportunities. The new logo places an emphasis on the agricultural landscape, with stunning Mt. Rainier as a backdrop. Pierce County’s fertile soils and diverse array of farms set it apart, and Pierce County farms stand to benefit from an ever-increasing consumer demand for locally grown and healthy farm-fresh foods.

This year PC Fresh is also supporting farmers with workshops for business development including digital marketing, grant writing, and professional farm photography. According to the 2017 Census of Agriculture (USDA), Pierce County boasts over 1,600 local farms, making agriculture an important piece of the county’s economy. PC Fresh is dedicated to promoting and encouraging growth in this essential sector.

“Apart from growing food and being good stewards of the land, the most important thing farmers can do is educate our community about who we are and what we do. Pierce County has such a rich agricultural history that is far from a thing of the past; thanks to Pierce County Fresh our neighbors are realizing that farms in Pierce County are still thriving.” – Amy Moreno-Sills, farmer at Four Elements Farm.
