Firgrove Elementary 4th grade students
embarked on the first Puyallup
Hatchery field trip of the season as
part of the Puyallup School District’s
new Salmon Explorers program. This
fall and winter, more than 20 classes
of 4th graders from schools across
the district will visit the hatchery
to learn about salmon. They will
observe salmon spawning in Clarks
Creek, explore the State’s hatchery
operation, and learn about human
impacts on salmon. PCD is excited to
partner with the School District and
the Hatchery to offer this environmental
education program and teach
local students about the importance
of salmon and how their actions can
make a difference in their watershed.
