HONORING PAUL CHROMEY, ADVOCATE FOR HIS COMMUNITY AND NATURE

Posted on March 1, 2021 at 11:38 AM by Allan Warren

Paul fishingPCD recently learned our long-time friend and volunteer, Paul Chromey, passed away in December 2020. Paul started monitoring with Stream Team in 2004 and his children, Alisha and Darren, soon joined him. He received the Stream Team Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007 for his outstanding monitoring efforts. Darren continues to monitor as one of our first Chinook monitors, a higher-level recognition for long-term monitors. Paul was also an active participant in plantings and the annual Plant Sale. He was very committed to his volunteer work and would schedule an annual vacation to Arizona with his wife, Debbie, around the Plant Sale. Paul’s favorite plant was Oregon grape! He interacted with many PCD staff over the years. Paul lived out his values in his community and nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and advocated for social issues within his local Tacoma community. Paul will be dearly missed by all. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Debbie Barr, daughter Alisha, Ames, IA, son Darren at home, mother Phyllis, brother Will (Kathy) North Bend, sister-in-law Trudie Grace (Frederick Wardy) Long Beach, CA, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Thank you, Paul, for your years of service to local conservation efforts and your community.
