Volunteers enjoyed perfectly crisp
autumn weather at the South Prairie
Creek Preserve planting parties. With
construction of the South Prairie Creek
Restoration Project on the horizon in
2020, PCD worked over the fall to plant
1.85 acres at the west end of the site.
Twenty-eight volunteers, together with
the District’s AmeriCorps members and
Washington Conservation Corps crew,
installed 1510 native trees, shrubs, and
sedges.
Continue to check in on our website and Facebook page
for info about Saturday planting parties
coming up in February and March and
potential mid-week plantings over the
winter as we continue to chip away at
the dozens of acres to be planted as
part of this project.
Habitat Improvement Coordinator, Kramer Canup, Board of Supervisors member Dr. Brian Sullivan, and our new Habitat AmeriCorps, Kela Hall-Wieckert are seen here leading a group of volunteers to our planting site at South Prairie Creek Preserve.
