The District’s WCC crew
celebrates a good day of hard work at the
South Prairie Creek Preserve project site
in July. L to R: Kelly Lewis (supervisor),
Samuel Bubenzer, Justin LeMay, Kalea
Steffe, Marinn Carpenter, and Clayton Berg.
Since last October, the District
has been fortunate to sponsor a
Washington Conservation Corps
(WCC) crew, in partnership with
the City of Puyallup and Forterra.
This group of five hard working
young adults, plus their supervisor,
have increased the District’s capacity
and allowed more important
restoration work to be completed.
Among other projects, our WCC
crew has performed critical tasks
at nearly all our active planting
sites doing site prep, plant installation,
and maintenance. They
have also done important work
on the new Loop Trail in Puyallup
that goes through restoration sites
like Silver and Meeker Creek.
