Kat recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Washington Tacoma where she majored in Environmental Science with a focus on conservation biology and ecology and completed her certification in GIS. Her undergraduate research was conducted on harmful algal blooms near Vancouver Island BC. Before coming here, she was a water quality monitoring intern at Pierce County over the summer where she did a lot of field work collecting samples, water property data, and BIBI. Prior to that she was an intern with Harbor Wild Watch where she worked doing environmental education and leading community science projects. She is from Tacoma but now resides in Port Orchard with her husband and fluffy nebelung cat named Smoke. She has lots of hobbies including hiking, gardening, pyrography, reading, mushroom foraging, and bird watching!
