This July, over 250 future environmental scientists gathered for NCF-Envirothon! At this final event, high school teams from across the USA, Canada, and China come together to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in conservation topics. This year, NCF Envirothon was held in Alberta, Canada. Surrounded by Boreal forests, the setting was the focal point for this year's Current Issue: Forest Stewardship!

A falconry presentation, hands-on trainings from environmental professionals, and scenic hikes were among the activities held at NCF-Envirothon!
The Envirothon teams enjoyed a week’s worth of connecting with other youth from across the continent and learning directly from environmental professionals. From a falconry demonstration to a hike at Banff National Park, the high schoolers formed core memories that will inspire their future careers in conservation!

Roosevelt High School team at Banff National Park and working hard at an Envirothon testing station!
Thank you to the Roosevelt High School team for competing in NCF Envirothon! They did amazing work representing Washington State, with very strong scores in the forestry and Current Issue sections of the competition. Great job to every student that participated in Envirothon this year, and to all the environmental professionals that make this impactful program possible!
What is Envirothon?
Envirothon is an annual environmental science competition for high school-aged students. They are tested on the subject areas of aquatic ecology, soils, forestry, and wildlife, as well as a "Current Issue" topic, which for 2025 was Forest Stewardship.
