Teams of high school students across the nation are all preparing for the Envirothon competition, including our own in Washington State. Each year, student teams compete to demonstrate their knowledge and application of environmental topics. These topics include soils, forestry, wildlife, aquatics, and a current issue chosen by the host of the national competition. This year that topic is renewable energy! To prepare our teams for the regional, state, and national competition, we partner with experts to host workshops on each topic in Envirothon.

Recently, Pierce Conservation District and King Conservation District had the privilege of partnering with the University of Washington Clean Energy Institute to host not one, but two workshops on renewable energy. The first was an online webinar for those too far away to visit the lab, the other was a lab tour and demonstration at the University of Washington’s Seattle campus.
