Candidacy
Am I eligible to be a candidate in PCD elections?

Depending on the current board make-up, candidates may also be required to own land or operate a farm to be eligible. If this is a requirement it will be listed on the candidate application form.
Election Guidelines
What are District elections for?
Conservation Districts are governed by a 5-member Board of Supervisors who serve 3-year terms. Three Supervisors are elected and two are appointed by the Washington State Conservation Commission.
How do you ensure election transparency?
PCD partners with a non-partisan third-party accountant that verifies voter eligibility and tabulates ballots. They produce a report which is provided to the District and to the Washington State Conservation Commission. District elections are also overseen by the Washington State Conservation Commission.
When are election results posted?
Unofficial election results are shared approximately no later than two weeks after Election Day. Election results are announced via PCD website and PCD communications channels, such as social media and our newsletter. These unofficial results are provided to the Washington State Conservation Commission for verification. Verified results are announced in May of a given election year, at the Washington Associate of Conservation District's annual conference.
What would make my ballot ineligible?
The following scenarios could disqualify a ballot from being counted in the District Election.
- Ballot postmarked after Election Day.
- Ballot received by tabulator past mail-in ballot deadline.
- Address discrepancies with the Pierce County Voter Database.
- Missing signature and date on return envelope.
- No privacy envelope used OR privacy envelope unsealed.
- No candidate selected.
- Voted both in-person and through mail-in ballot.
