1. How do I get involved?

Pierce Conservation District is always seeking new volunteers and landowner partners. To volunteer for an upcoming event, check out our calendar. To request a site visit contact Melissa at melissab@piercecountycd.org.

2. If I miss a Stream Monitoring Training, can I still become a Stream Monitor?

Yes! While we try to group trainings together to encourage Monitors partnering on a site we provide one-on-one trainings upon request. Contact Isabel at isabelr@piercecountycd.org to request a training.

3. What do Stream Monitors test for?

Stream Monitors test 5 basic parameters at each monitoring visit: temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, nitrates, and turbidity. Flow is measured if water levels are safe enough to enter the stream.

Once per year Monitors complete a Habitat Assessment that provides qualitative information about the site and surrounding area.
