ANNUAL SEED SWAP, STORY SHARE & POTLUCK
Saturday, February 1, 2020
At our Seed Swap, people bring seeds for the seed table and family dishes for the potluck. Then, we share stories and memories about seeds and/or plants that have been passed down in our families for generations.
Plants and people have a special relationship through time, and seeds symbolize the stories of that relationship.
At our Seed Swap, people bring seeds for the seed table and family dishes for the potluck. Then, we share stories and memories about seeds and/or plants that have been passed down in our families for generations.
Because increasing food access is in our mission, we also receive seed donations from various seed companies specializing in heritage and heirloom varieties so everyone has access to fresh, locally grown food. This means bring seeds if you can, and know that there is plenty to share if you can’t! All leftover seeds are also brought to various food access projects throughout the County.
If you do bring your own seeds to share, please divide them into coin envelopes (or something of a similar size) and label them with the variety, date harvested, and any other relevant information you’d like to share.
If you’d like to share a story about a seed or a plant that’s important to you during the Storytelling Open Mic, contact kaliciab@piercecd.org and we’ll sign you up!
