    April 18, 2020, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Join Habitat Steward Heather Shadko and PCD as we continue to actively restore the Silver Creek Green Space in Puyallup. Historically, this section of Silver Creek was diverted from surface water and contained in a small underground pipe, causing many water quality impacts including habitat degradation and flooding. The stream was brought back to surface water in 2006 and since then hundreds of volunteers have installed thousands of plants in the riparian and surrounding areas to provide shade to the new riparian ecosystem.

  3. Meeker Creek Work Party - Earth Day! - CANCELLED

    April 25, 2020, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Restoration of this site was started in the summer of 2015 and since then many volunteers have planted and cared for over 10,000 trees and shrubs. In the early 1900’s farmers installed a series of ditches in the valley bottom to dewater the land. Eventually the surrounding area transitioned to mostly residential and the City of Puyallup purchased the property in 2003. A 1000’ section of the ditch was realigned into a natural meandering creek. A large floodplain area was constructed and the project overall has dramatically improved several water quality parameters, decreased flooding, while managing storm water and sediment deposition throughout the watershed.
