Orca Recovery Day: South Prairie Creek Preserve

Come join us for Orca Recovery Day on Saturday, October 14th, 2023! We'll be planting trees along the creek to improve salmon habitat; the primary food source for orca whales. We'll also be hosting a bird walk with an expert birder, and will be offering some youth activities.   South Prairie Creek is one of the most productive salmon spawning grounds in the area, so come out to see (and smell!) spawning fish!

Location: South Prairie, WA. Exact address will be shared upon signup


Optional bird walk begins at 8:00 am! Bring binoculars if you have them, and an enthusiasm for birds!

What to expect:

o Expect uneven terrain

o Parking is limited. Please carpool with people in your party, if possible.


What to bring: Dress for success!

o Long pants, closed-toed shoes

o Dress in layers! The weather can be unpredictable. 


Please bring your own:

o Full water bottle

o Work gloves [some lending gloves will be available, if needed]

o If you would like, you can bring your own shovel or pitchfork [tools will be available]
