South Prairie Creek Preserve Planting Party

Saturday, October 12, 2019

Join us for a morning of planting along South Prairie Creek and a chance to see pink salmon!

Join us to be part of this important salmon and wildlife project!

The pinks are running! The pinks are running! In odd-numbered years (hello, 2019!) pink salmon return to Puget Sound streams including South Prairie Creek, along with their fellow salmonids Chinook, Coho, Chum and Cutthroat.

Along with salmon viewing, we will be planting 1,300 plants in an area tucked in between South Prairie Creek and a little tributary called Silver Springs.

This planting continues our work to install trees and shrubs outside of what will be the active construction zone of the project that is planned to improve salmon habitat in the mainstem of South Prairie Creek, recreate a historic side channel through the floodplain, and plant more than three dozen acres.

Confirmation of project details and driving directions provided upon registration.

Tools and light refreshments provided.
