Dropstone Farm Planting Party
Saturday, September 29, 2018
Nestled in the river valley near Orting,
Dropstone Farm has fenced off
a long stream corridor from their
field and livestock operations. A
tributary to the Carbon River, this
section of stream bank is lacking
in native vegetation to keep water
temperatures cool and invasive reed
canary grass at bay. Planting event is
co-sponsored by PCC Farmland Trust,
who helped protect this valuable
agricultural land into perpetuity.
Join us and our partners at PCC Farmland Trust and EarthCorps on September 29 for a tree planting party on Dropstone Farms. Farmers Lauren and Garth have fenced off a stream corridor along Card Creek from their field and livestock operations. A tributary to the Carbon River, this section of stream bank is lacking in native vegetation to keep water temperatures cool and invasive reed canary grass at bay. Help improve on-farm habitat and drainage by planting a native tree and shrub buffer with us! We have almost 1,000 trees to plant, so grab your gloves, bring your friends, and get ready to make a huge impact on the health of this local farm.
Thanks to our friends at Sunrise Tacos for providing lunch!
