The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is partnering with the
Get Hooked Foundation and
Metro Parks Tacoma to host a family-friendly event to
teach youth the basics of fishing and the importance of conservation.
The event will give kids the opportunity to:
Who can participate: Kids age 14 and under. No fishing license required. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Date: Saturday, June 16
Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Wapato Park, 6500 S Sheridan Ave, Tacoma
Parking/Transportation: There are two parking lots with limited space at Wapato Park and additional off-street parking on Sheridan Avenue. We encourage people to use public transportation, carpool, or walk to get to the park to limit congestion. Pierce Transit bus routes 45, 48, and 55 have routes with stops near Wapato Park.
Food: Snacks and beverages will be provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Attendees are invited to bring their own picnic lunch or snacks. Lunch will be available to purchase from local food trucks at the event.
Accessibility: The event will be ADA-accessible, including access to the fishing docks.
