End of Season Report from the Gleaning Project

abundance 2From June to November, 103 Harvest Pierce County volunteers attended 96 harvests with the Gleaning Project, capturing a total of 44,619lbs of produce that would have otherwise gone to waste. The overall harvest this year included everything from beets, squash, and beans, to figs, strawberries, and even kiwi!

Welcome Our New Harvest Pierce County Program Specialist!

Renee MeschiRenee Meschi joined the District as a Harvest Pierce County Program Specialist in August, returning for the second time after completing AmeriCorps Summer VISTA service with Harvest Pierce County in 2013. Now, Renee will be focusing on the Gleaning Project, as well as supporting Harvest Pierce County as it broadens its definition of a community garden, including food forests, edible landscaping, and other community-managed green spaces.
