Harvest Pierce County is thrilled to add Saiyare Refaei to our team this fall as a new Program Coordinator. She will be helping us build closer, deeper relationships with our communities and partners. Please help us in welcoming Saiyare to the HPC and Pierce CD family!
"I am excited to be joining the Harvest Pierce County team at Pierce Conservation District as they have demonstrated doing the diligent work of focusing on community connection to create a just and healthy food system. I was born and raised in Oregon and moved up to Tacoma in 2010 to attend Pacific Lutheran University. Ever since I have sought opportunities to know this place better and support communities that have truly encouraged me to bring my full self.
With my passions for the environment, creativity, just and regenerative practices I hope to support this team well in furthering this work in community. And what better focus than around food! With a background in environmental studies, nonprofit, higher education and community participatory planning I look forward to working closely with this team and community members to create more accessible and self-sustaining structures for the community most impacted by unjust systems to thrive. If I am not at work then you might run into me dancing at the gym, at a rally, working on a community art project or taking a nature walk."
Welcome Saiyare! We are happy to have you part of our team!
