Veggie co-op volunteers celebrate another great harvest at the Farm’s new USDA certified cleaning station.
This was an amazing year for our Veggie Co-op program! Our co-op members worked through the wettest spring on record and then some of the hottest summer days we’ve seen. It was a season to remember and all that hard work paid off with incredible veggies going straight to the
Franklin Pierce School District’s cafeteria in the spring and fall, donated to local food banks during the sum-mer, and feeding our members in their weekly shares.
The farm also played host to several community groups this season including
Camp Pierce, students from the
University of Puget Sound, and the
Point Defiance Zoo Youth Volunteers who helped us with everything from transplanting to farm clean up. We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again this spring!
