Covid-19 Equipment Rental Updates

Due to the Pierce Conservation District office closure until Pierce County is in at least Phase 3 of the Governor's Safe Start Washington plan, and in order to protect public health, we have developed new cleaning protocols and rental procedures to allow our equipment to still be used by Pierce County (only) residents. The equipment will be housed on trailers that require a 2" ball and 7-way electric prong and will be going from farm to farm rather than them coming back to the Pierce Conservation District office in between users.

Rental Equipment Program Procedures:

These procedures are for the manure spreaders and chicken poultry unit. The turkey unit is only going to be available October 9 through Thanksgiving.

1. Currently, only Pierce County residents can rent the equipment.

2. To make a reservation for the poultry unit, please fill out a reservation request form.  If inquiring about renting a manure spreader, contact carlyc@piercecd.org and Carly will check with the farm resource specialist in your area prior to taking your reservation.

3. Carly will send a fillable EQUIPMENT AGREEMENT and a CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION FORM for the payment and deposit once you have made your reservation The deposit or any other penalty fees will only be charged if the equipment is not cleaned or if repairs need to be made for damages done to the equipment while in your possession. You will be emailed a receipt for all transactions. You will also receive a guide of how you are to take photos of the equipment and trailer on which it came to report their condition. You will need to email photos to Carly both upon receipt of the equipment, and before it leaves your possession so that you will not be held liable for any damages.

4. Once Pierce Conservation District has received payment, we will put you in contact with the previous renter.

5. You and the previous renter will arrange transfer of the equipment.

6. Once you receive the equipment and trailer, email Carly photos of their condition.

7. Once you are finished using the equipment you will be put in contact with the next renter. If there is a gap in between rentals, you will need to securely house the equipment until such time that it leaves your property. You will not be charged for additional days that you have the equipment.

8. Email Carly and confirm you have transferred the equipment to the next renter.
